Just hours after announcing their first official sleeve sponsor, EPL side Arsenal FC has once again their new head coach that will be guiding them for the next four years. The Gunners have appointed the former PSG and Sevilla manager, Unai Emery on a three years contract, replacing Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.

I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history.” Emery said just after being confirmed on the new job.

The 46-year-old Spaniard arrives at the club following a two-year spell at PSG. He led the club to a domestic treble this season, but his contract was not extended over a result of his team putting up an unsatisfactory performance in the UEFA Champions League and was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run. I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history.

I have met Stan and Josh Kroenke and it’s clear they have great ambitions for the club and are committed to bringing future success. I’m excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories.” Unai Emery clarified.

Emery experienced considerable success in Europe during his time at Sevilla, winning three successive Europa Leagues between 2014 and 2016.

He came on top ahead of former Barcelona Manager Luis Enrique, former club captains Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta and Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri, who were also among the potential candidates.

However, Emery has not been in the news for the taking this post as the former Arsenal captain, Mikel Arteta was believed to be a front-runner for the job.

According to Sky Sports News, he withdrew from the running due to concerns over the extent of the role he would have in the club’s transfer policy.

Emery will earn £6million-a-season after he signed a four-year deal with the north London club.

Assistant Juan Carlos Carcedo is also likely to join Emery as part of the backroom staff overhaul with Steve Bould and Coach Jens Lehmann set to stay at the club.
