he Lugazi Open golf tournament will tee off this weekend at the par 70 Golf Club in Lugazi .The two day tournament swings into action this Saturday and for the first time secondary school students will take part in the senior event.
Mehta Senior Secondary will have its students take part in the Uganda Golf Union event as a way of grooming young talent in the sport.Over 200 golfers from across the country are expected at the open.
NJ Paul, of Mehta Group of Companies said, “This year we have planned to focus on developing the game to a larger segment by introducing the Group C (Handicap 19-28), which was not there last few years.”
“Also we have been giving free training for some of the children in the Mehta SS school who will also be participating in the tournament.”, he added.
Peter Ssendaula will be looking forward to retaining the title he claimed last year.Orange Uganda Limited and Mehta Group of Companies are the sponsors of the tournament.
