Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have this Friday resumed the joint military operation launched late last year against Islamist insurgents, Allied Dermocratic Forces (ADF), in eastern Congo.
“We have launched fresh air and artillery strikes in Sector Il and Sector Ill of Operation Shujaa early this morning,” said a Ugandan defence official who preferred anonymity to speak freely.
“Operation Shujaa has resumed’ he emphasised.
Uganda had put on hold its military operation conducted by at least 1,700 troops in the neighbouring restive part of Congo pending review by commanders from both sides.
Army spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye was not readily available for comment.
