Lake George in Western Uganda

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament (Cap 200 of 2000), with the primary function of conserving and sustainably managing wildlife and protected areas of Uganda, in partnership with the neighboring communities and other stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.

The tourism program contained in the General Management Plan for Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area, aims at setting up the appropriate facilities for providing services that support visitor enjoyment of the natural resources of the areas in a safe and rewarding manner.

The plan provides for the setting up and operation of Houseboats within the Kyambura Wildlife Reserve, on the eastern side of the Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area. The houseboats will moor at specific locations at or near the Kashaka village but travel freely on the eastern side of the Kazinga Channel and within lake George.

UWA now seeks to identify and enter into a Concession Contract with a competent company to operate houseboats on the lake George within the Kyambura Wildlife reserve.

Interested applicants can view the documents from the offices of the Concessions Manager, Procurement Manager or Cashier. They can however purchase the bid documents from the UWA cashier on presenting an official application to purchase the document and paying a non-refundable fee of Shs 50,000 (Shs. Fifty thousand only).

Bids in sealed envelopes clearly marked “OPERATION OF HOUSEBOAT,” should be addressed and submitted to:
