The Uganda National Netball team (She Cranes) has moved to sixth position in the latest rankings released by World Netball (WN).
This reflects the team’s steady progress in form on international stages based on their recent performances. She Cranes’ progress to the sixth sees them surpass Malawi in the rankings.
This can be attributed to their recent triumph against Wales, where the She Cranes dominated the three-match series in Cardiff with a 2-1 triumph.
However, the team failed to register a single win in the 2024 Netball Vitality Nations Cup in England, after losing all the matches against hosts England, Australia, and New Zealand.
The team’s achievement comes amidst challenges back home, where the Uganda Netball Federation was suspended by the World Netball body, and the National Council of Sports withdrawing its certificate of recognition.
Australia remains at World’s number one with New Zealand remaining second, followed by England and Jamaica, while South Africa is ranked 5th.
