ganda Telecom (UTL) has Friday kicked off its charity initiative by supplying food to over 2,750 Muslims as way to support the health of people in the Ramadan period.
The food supplies included sugar, salt, bags of rice, cooking oil, maize flour and water. The Company visited the Muslim worshippers and communities in Ntinda and Kyaliwajala.
“As a proudly Ugandan Brand, the donations that we have made today are to ensure that you enjoy this year’s Ramadhan celebration with your families without any constraints,” said Arif Ameer, the Director of Marketing and Commercial Business Intelligence at UTL.
For the next two weeks, the Company will donate to other mosques in and around Kampala including Zana, Kabowa, Kasubi, Kyengera and Kawempe.
Speaking to worshippers at the Ntinda Masjid Salaam after Juma prayers, Sheikh Salim Mabirizi and Sheikh Sharif Lutaaya hailed d Uganda Telecom for supporting the Ramadan spirit.
“We are indeed blessed to receive this donation from Uganda Telecom today. We will surely keep you in our prayers as you continue to serve our fellow brothers and sisters,” Sheikh Mabirizi said.
He also urged all individuals and institutions to join the celebrations spirit by sharing with the Muslim community in Uganda.
