Police Rebrands From ‘Force’ To Uganda National Police

Uganda Police Force has changed its name To Uganda National Police a move meant to address public fears.

During a meeting at Hotel Africana in Kampala today, the Inspector General of Police, Kale Kayihura said many Ugandans hate the word force.

“Ugandans hate the word Force. Rebranding is meant to address those fears.”

He said the Constitution will be amended to reflect Police’s change of name.

Kayihura also revealed that a suggestion of change to Uganda Police Service was rejected because “cops are not waitresses.”
