Museveni Launches Shs256 Billion Fund Youth Project

President Yoweri Museveni has today launched the Shs256 billion fund youth project at Kololo ceremonial grounds in Kampala.

The funds which will be released on a revolving basis will not attract interest when paid back in one year.

The new Shs 265bn fund for the youth will be managed by the Gender Ministry Permanent Secretary, Pius Bigirimana with the aim of uplifting the economic conditions of the youth in Uganda.

According to Bigirimana, the Government is now taking a deliberate step to address the challenge of this high poverty and unemployment among the youth, through a more feasible and sustainable intervention that increases the participation of the youth in economic activities.

He says this involves enhancement of skills and provision of technical and financial support to enable the youth establish marketable and viable enterprises.
