“Kiwanda Ssuubi has been elected as the new chairman of the National Consultative Forum – succeeding Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda”

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has appointed NRM Deputy Chairman Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi to head the National Consultative Forum, which brings together all registered political parties, to succeed Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.

The Constitution established the National Consultative Forum to guide the political parties in the country, and to monitor the distribution of funds from the Electoral Commission to the parties with MPs in Parliament.

President Museveni, appointed Kiwanda to succeed Dr. Ruhankana Rugunda at the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Ntebbe on October 31,2024.

The National Consultative Forum was established by the Constitution of Uganda to help political parties to better guide leaders and consult on various issues affecting the common man.

However, some opposition politicians including Buikwe South MP, Dr. Lulume Bayiga said the commission is not very important because the NRM is self-governing.

Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi promised to do the job well, to ensure that all parties benefit as well as the community.
