Kampala City Carnival Returns to Kampala Streets for 6th edition

Kampala City Festival

Thousands of people from across East Africa and other parts of the world will once again descend on Kampala Road in Uganda’s capital Kampala from October 8-9 for the 6th year of the Kampala City Festival.

The event, organised by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), will feature a range of music and dance performances as well as a wide variety of food. The food!

“Every first week of October, Kampala becomes animated with flamboyant sights, vibrant sounds & lively rhythms in concert with an array of floats winding through the streets with dancers on show as they spin, whirl & twirl to mesmeric beats of celebration along the festival route,” KCCA said. “Along with savory aromas of roast and drinks at your disposal, enjoy electric vibes by sensational artists of diverse genre entertaining you, your family and friends at no cost.”

Performances will take place on eight different stages from 6am till midnight, KCCA said, with highlights including Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, who has been penciled in as the headline act of the festival.

“It’s a highly anticipated moment for revellers to share, learn and network while acting as an economic engine for companies, organisations and small businesses to flourish,” said KCCA. “With Kampala in a constant state of change and regeneration, the festival projects the image of the City as a happy, cultural and warm place to be while promoting positive change to its public realm.”
