MASAKA;-The newly ordained priests in the Catholic Church will now on be required to devotedly stand strong and amplify voice of the voiceless among the flock to which they are sent to lead, the Masaka Diocesan Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa demands.

Last weekend, Masaka diocese ordained seven new priests and eleven seminarians were elevated to become deacons.  In his homily while leading the ordination mass at the Diocesan cathedral in Kitovu, Masaka district, Bishop Kaggwa told the new priests that their ordination has coincided with extensive frustrations and trials in the country, challenging them to find solutions through their ministries.

He observed that many people have been rendered vulnerable by a range troublesome circumstances they are faced with, and that they are yearning to get all-round comforters; a role the priests out to play.

“Never fear to speak out what will benefit and help the people whom you are going to serve. Do what is within your mandate to ensure that people realized the desired change into their lives and communities,” he guided.

The Bishop on the other hand asked the new priests always keep the identity of their noble call and be steady-fast, committed as doctors who will heal the rotting institutions of country starting with the family.

Rev Fr Joseph Lugalambi, who prepared the priests prior to their ordination, assured the Bishop and the congregation of the proven devotion of the new candidates to serve the church and flock, without any elements of defiance to any principles.

“With the grace of the Lord, we shall overcome and we are ready to serve with humbleness and obedience,” Rev Lugalambi assured the Bishop.

He however called upon the believers to continue praying for them so that they remain strong.

Dick Muwanga the leader of the laity called upon the lay Christians to give material and spiritual support to the newly and serving priests so as they smoothly run the work of the lord.
